| TITLE: | The Men From The Boys | ![]() |
| AUTHOR: | Phillip Collins | |
| SYNOPSIS: | Its about a couple of lads who are best friends growing up in Bury in the 70s and 80s. One of them is intelligent with great academic potential, the other is a scrote who is good at football and ends up playing for Bury FC. Its a typical 'When Saturday Comes' type rise to stardom for the young Shakers player who then has his career cut short through injury and quickly reverts to scrotedom. | |
| COMMENTS: | Well i'll be honest, its not particularly good in terms of its character development or plot and its not that well written either. However, its set in Bury and much of it is about Bury FC so its well worth the read. | |

| AUTHOR: | Peter Cullen | |
| SYNOPSIS: | Official Bury FC club historian, Peter Cullen’s statistical journey through the history of this fine old football club, charting the Shakers’ inception in 1885, through FA Cup glory in 1900 and 1903 and the club’s highest ever league finish of 4th in the old old first division in 1924 and to the clubs fall to the basement division in the 1970s and 80s. Every match is documented including scorers, attendances and final league tables. The book’s final chapter is the relegation season from the old first division in 1999 - happy days indeed.
