Is that players who were at Bury at the time or who have played for Bury before or after (like Luther Blissett!)

Do you mean full caps with the grown up team, or does Wayne Entwistle playing for the under 19s count?

James Settle played for Bury and England at the turn of the century (before last). Do I get a point for that? No idea if he scored, but he was a forward so might have.

beardyman posted on January 5, 2010: 18:39:26
james settle did indeed play for england between 1899 & 1903 as an inside left. he made 6 appearances and scored 6 goals. 3 appearances and 4 goals were whilst he was bury player, he was subsequently transferred to everton.

i'll give you a clue...........there are 5 more to go.

Despite the temptation to google it, i'm going to hazard a guess at Jack Plant as he's one of about three really early days Bury players I can think of.

I'm going to dig out my shakers history book by Pete Cullen. It's bound to be in there or I'll eat my hat. Fortunately I wear a pork pie hat.

jack plant only played only 1 match for england on 7th april 1900. he played at outside left but failed to score.

4 to go.

I gave in to temptation and looked on the England AFC site. It came up with Eight names! I have now banned myself from this competition for cheating, but Beardy, it says in total 9 goals scored by Bury players. Is that what you had?

Norman Bullock has to be one.

beardyman posted on January 7, 2010: 17:37:40
norman bullock - centre forward made 3 appearances between 1923 & 1926 scoring 2 goals.

this is becoming more interesting as the site i found has a list of 1161 players and their stats who played for england between november 1872 and november 2009. it lists 6 bury players!
